I recently read a nice article featuring Kristen Bell, recently found on the cover of Parents magazine (wearing roller skates no less). The story talks about teaching our children the meaning of charity and why we give to others. You can find the story here.
I know that Halloween is coming soon, and then it’s November, when we all start focusing a little more on being thankful and giving back. Too bad we don’t think that way all the time, but sometimes life gets in the way. As a local community partner we like to show our appreciation and give when we can. We have several charities we work with, among the donations to non-profit groups like schools and churches. Currently we are accepting donations for Rays Of Hope in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. You can see photos of the donation cards hanging in the rink. We also hold an annual fundraiser to help bring awareness to Autism and the families working with those challenges.
Whatever your benefit of choice is, I hope that everyone can find some time, effort, or means to donate. If you come skating on Saturday, we are working with someone to raise money and awareness, you can get some extra pink stuff to show your support.
