As we get closer to Memorial Day, we all take a moment to say thanks to a veteran, and remember the sacrifice so many service members have given. Interskate 91 wants to help the local community to show this gratitude. Did you know that Memorial Day used to be called Decoration Day, and was designated a federal holiday in 1971. Here’s your three and a half minute history lesson.
We are going to collect letters and drawings from our families and skaters till Memorial Day and then send them to the wonderful non-profit organization called ‘A Million Thanks‘. We will also make a monetary donation at the same time. We are open for public skating on Monday May 30th from 1 to 5 and $2 from every paid admission will go to their benefit and help grant wishes for injured military veterans.
If you would like to help support this cause, please come skating on Memorial Day May 30th. Your admission will help support A Million Thanks, and get you skating, free laser tag, free pizza and for kids under 54 inches tall, free Playquest (indoor playground).
Please comment if you have any ideas for other community events we should get involved in.
